Born in the hills of Manchester.
Attended Durham University to study Biology.
As part of university training Russell had to improve the sports performance of Durham University’s rowing team. This totally changed my passion for simply going to the gym and replaced it with the real intention of improving overall performance as opposed to simply focusing in on fitness levels and aesthetics.
Began coaching the University Athletics team to improve their race times.
Moved to Bournemouth to work at the University Sports Centre and became a qualified Strength & Conditioning coach working initially with the golf team to help them to their 4th and 5th continuous Southern Premiership victories.
Became Regional Coach for the Talented Athlete Scholarship Team and the full-time Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach for sportBU. Worked with 250 athletes each year across 25 sports from Junior to Olympic level, gaining incredible insight into the preparation of athletes for the demands of their specific sport. Summer was spent increasing his knowledge base by interning at the College of the Canyons in California.
Won the British University Powerlifting Championships.
Keen to keep learning and develop the ability for sports performance, Russell enrolled on a Masters Degree in Strength & Conditioning at St Mary's University. He also opened TeamCC in Poole to fulfill a dream to bring the performance training environment to the public and wider sports. For three years he completed his full-time role at Bournemouth, his Masters and worked at TeamCC.
After the University's most successful year in the British Uni Championships, Russell attained a distinction in his Masters Degree before making the decision to go full-time at TeamCC.
Coached Ed Wright in preparation for the Finn Class sailing World Championships and Jon Moore for the Masters BMX World Championships in each of 2015-2018. We rehabbed ski-ers from ACL ruptures, worked with the GB Beach Volleyball team on the World Tour and started to teach the Level 4 Strength & Conditioning qualification to aspiring coaches.
With TeamCC Poole at max capacity Russell wanted to expand the impact so work began on the second location.
TeamCC Bournemouth successfully opened with the goal to take the most effective and proven methods of performance improvement and make them enjoyable and effective for all members and athletes.

I played in defence with Sylvain for 6 years. As a young player it was great to see him continue to be one of the fastest centre backs in the league well into old age! He was always putting the extra effort into going to the gym to keep his speed and power on the pitch. Now I’m 30 I’m starting to see why he was putting all that effort in to keep playing as long as possible.
